Our location close to downtown puts you within range of many great Madison attractions! Here are a few things to do while you are in the area for our tournament. If you are looking for other ideas, please contact the director for more suggestions.
Visit the iconic Memorial Union Terrace, situated behind Memorial Union on Lake Mendota. Enjoying the University of Wisconsin’s famous Babcock Dairy ice cream, beer, or brats while sitting on the brightly-colored sunburst chairs is just about the most Madison thing you can do.
Take a tour of the Wisconsin State Capitol, the largest state capitol building in the country, notable for its 265-foot-high dome (the largest granite dome in the world) and its artwork.
Walk to Picnic Point for a great view of downtown Madison. Parking near the trail is about 1.5 miles from the hotel, and the walk is less than a mile each way (or take the two-mile loop in the link).
Walk down State Street. Located in the heart of Madison, the street connects the UW-Madison campus to the Capitol and has many excellent restaurants. At the top of State Street (the west end) is Library Mall, known for its food carts for lunch. Note that all of State Street is closed to private vehicles.
If you are an early riser, visit the Dane County Farmers Market, another great Madison tradition, before Saturday's play. Located on Capitol Square and open from 6:15am to 1:45pm on Saturdays, it is the largest producers-only farmers market in the US.
Visit the UW Arboretum or the Olbrich Botanical Gardens.
Museums in and around Madison include the Chazen Museum of Art, the Wisconsin Veterans Museum, the Wisconsin Historical Museum, and the delightfully quirky National Mustard Museum.
Watch the Madison Mallards baseball team at the Duck Pond in Warner Park. The Mallards play in the Northwoods League, a summer league that gives top college players an experience playing with wooden bats. Tickets are cheap, and the experience is lots of fun!
In Spring Green, Taliesin, home of Frank Lloyd Wright, is a must-visit for lovers of architecture (36 miles away). Devil's Lake State Park, in Baraboo, has great hiking and campgrounds (38 miles away). Wisconsin Dells (52 miles away) is well known for its many waterparks and theme parks.
